Salt Lake City School visit |
Newman elementary invited us (thank you to david smith). We got there just as school was letting out. since it was raining, we set up right next to the school under a shallow overhang.
about 80 kids came and made books. richard koman (of o'reilly who is on the trip) helped each kid make an 8-fold book.
then I showed them how to print and bind books. the most popular thing was the book cutter. this has a big handle and cuts a book in one chop. this is particularly popular with the boys (I know, but it is true, try it).
we gave a wonderful Wizard of Oz and a nice Alice in wonderland with a couple of different teachers.
We are getting a bit better at this. we were there for about 1.5 hours and made 6 books.
tomorrow-- we mostly drive. it was snowing on us in wyoming...
