You go Charlie! Youngsters seem to grasp that it wasn't only the music that had taken a hit in the later years, it was the fan base. It started with the oh so self important cocaine years and rolled right through the xtc finale. There's a vast difference between 10,000 coked up teeth clenching Al Pacino wannabees and the same amount of hashed out mescaline dropping jello brains. The mood, the vibe, the venue, the gate jumpers, the drugs of choice and yes even the music changed over the years. Folks wanna say that the 80's and 90's were the best, I can't diss them, cause I wasn't there. (But I'll bet they weren't there in 72-78 either.) It's all a matter of perspective.
