Hi,

I checked your item back in, and then checked it out and uploaded a test file (test.txt) without any problems using FTP. So there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the server or the item itself. That leads me to think that either there's an issue with your FTP software, or you're using the wrong login, or something like that. I'm definitely not an expert on Cyberduck, I use SmartFTP most of the time, so I'm not sure I can help with other information. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong on our end, anyway.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

I tried again with the real item, and a test item, and this is the error message I got:
FTP Error: Rename/move failure: Permission denied (danelarsen2006_no4_20aug_8oct_public.pdf)
FTP Error: Prohibited file name: /danelarsen2006_no4_20aug_8oct_public.pdf/test 2.rtf (test 2.rtf)
FTP Error: Prohibited file name: /test 2.rtf (test 2.rtf)

When I try the real item I get this message

Remote File:
ftp://dxxxxxxxxxn@gmail.com@ia331314.us.archive.org:21/danelarsen2006_no4_20aug_8oct_public.pdf
Thursday, January 1, 1970 6:59:59 AM Asia/Bangkok
Unknown size

Local File:
/Users/jxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxn/Desktop/sketchbooks/public versions/2006/
Friday, November 17, 2006 12:20:54 PM Asia/Bangkok
128.5 MB

my options are: Cancel, Skip, Resume, Overwrite
I've tried them all, and none seem to work. Skip, resume and overwrite all lead to the first error message.

Finally I checked it back in and and out again and tried again with Fetch, which hadn't worked yesterday. This time it is magically uploading. I suppose I will have to switch FTP clients. It's amazing the a program can mess up something I could do in the command line if I would bother to learn how.

Thanks for checking. I am still puzzled by the existing file message, any explanation?

Ah ha! Your file name has a space in it. - test 2.rtf

Here's the full FAQ about file names: http://www.archive.org/about/faqs.php#216

But basically, you can't have spaces or any of several other characters in a file name - like &()",' etc.

Change the file name of your item, and you should be able to upload it.

Thanks,

Alexis

Well, I got the real one uploaded, the one called danelarsen2006_no4_20aug_8oct_public.pdf. So I guess it was a cyberduck problem, not a naming problem (for the real file, not the test item).

Any ideas why I would be told a file created in 1970 was already there?

Thanks again for looking into it
