Special Ed & the Shortbus is a stringband that plays a wide variety of styles...

On a handful songs, they're a straight out klezmer string band (they get some gigs as a jewish wedding band)... Poke around for songs like Der Muzinikal, Russian Rag & Axel F...

ah, yes! that was the genre name I was looking for, Klezmer ... thanks for the suggestions everyone .. i'll definately poke around those suggestions. Thanks again, i'm off to listen to some klezmer tunes..
