Re: Why Open Source Licensing/GNU? (flac/ogg/THEORA/etc..) |
glad you guys are interested in this! Cause I am! Think if everything worked in our world like ogg vorbis/open source. It would totally destroy everything (or you could say it would finally create everything)! Since the old ways are obviously destroying us (look around you). Our fake economy could be seen for what it is, a lie. If you aren't scared to look.
Anyhow, all you ipod marketing victms should complain to macintosh to incorporate formats like ogg that don't just support insecure megalomaniacs (some people call them the "rich") or any other irresponsible, immature types. "first we build the building and then the building builds us" You could help macintosh help yourself. We all benefit in this scenario!
You can make suggestions to apple ....Let em have it!!!! You could say something they would understand, like ::::
"Hey apple, I will be more interested in your products if you start supporting humans instead of dollar bills. Please incorporate ogg vorbis and all other open source software into your systems. It will actually make more money for you and your families in the future if you would like to see past today.
Thank you - ______________"

http://vorbis.com
In the meantime, while apple is digesting reality. You could sell your ipod and get a (all the below players play oggs, are cheaper, and have more space). I suggest you buy them used.
1. iaudio
http://www.iaudio.com
2. iriver
http://www.iriver.com/
if you know of any players that have adapted to what the future is going to be, post it. If you think I sound condescending, it's probably because you are and haven't paid much attention to it yet. What do you think you know and how do you know I don't? If you guys don't incorporate these things I am suggesting here, umm, we will probably all be even deader than we already are and soon. 2012 is the end of a few ancient calenders. We have alot of working, I mean playing to do before then! The more you do what makes sense to you, instead of what you have been told what makes sense to you, the better we will all be.
THank you all for making sense.

Re: Why Open Source Licensing/GNU? (flac/ogg/THEORA/etc..) |
I found the iRiver H320 for about $290 (U.S. Dollars). It plays everything, including mpeg videos. It's a pretty impressive little piece of hardware for the price, I just might have to get one.
It will take a long time to phase out mp3 if thats what you want to do. The reason being, guys like me have every CD they ever bought, ever song they ever downloaded, every live album, etc in mp3 (comes to over 12,000 songs). If there was a converter that could convert to ogg quickly it might be feasible. As it is now, even with a 2.53ghz P4 processor, it takes several minutes to convert 1 song (for my music collection, that's about 25 days of converting, non-stop)
