Question about deriving a show? |
I uploaded a show earlier this afternoon and it still hasn't derived. I've uploaded five shows since then and they've all derived without a problem (except for the one that I accidentally uploaded in 24bit flac) so I'm wondering if I did something wrong?
Also, for the 24bit flac show, I'm assuming that I just need to edit the show by deleting all of the 24bit files, uploading the 16bit ones, and then rederiving everything. Is that correct? Or is there additional steps that I'm forgetting?

Re: Question about deriving a show? |
I've decided that the 24bit show was a happy little accident so I'm gonna keep it up. Even though I record at 24/48, this is the first time that I've tracked out a show without resampling/dithering it down to 16/44.1 so I'm not sure what to do. Should I re-do everything from the beginning or would just running the 24bit tracks through r8brain give me the same quality result? I'm gonna go ahead and re-do it just to be safe, but I'd like to know what you guys think. And is there anything different here about 24bit and 16bit shows? Should I have not allowed mp3's? Here's the link:

Re: Question about deriving a show? |
Most major sequencers and many of the better multi track recorders will render audio temporarily in a 32 bit floating point format. This should not be confused with 32 bit recording. Basically, the extra bits are added onto the file after recording to allow generous headroom for audio mathematics in the digital domain. Before the file is output it will go through the 24 bit converters on your interface.
