Harrison's 'The Dead Book from 1973 is still the best book I've read on the band. There weren't alot of books, or any, on the Dead that far back. Having it was like having a stone tablet from the Mountain Top. While the big RS interview with Jerry was published in '72 it didn't come out in book form ('Signpost to New Space') 'till the late Seventies. Those were the only two I can think of that were around. Hard to imagine now.
I can remember listening to the record included with the book of Neal Cassady on stage at the Straight Theatre in '67 'rapping' as the band played 'snake music' behind him. Long time ago.
