Replacements
REM
Minutemen
Black Flag
MOTHERFUCKIN X - still doing it. As Knitters or not
Husker Du
XTC
Public Enemy (makes Sly seem like the wiggles)
The Pixies
can't believe micah can't recall Sonic Youth -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKMD8vI1MaM

... or that former Milwaukee high school pals Brian Ritchie, Gordon Gano and Kevn Kinney would all go on to do a few things in that decade.

Just another band from East L.A.?
Double Trouble

... and those are just bands that come to mind in 30 seconds.

60s are way, way, way fuckin' overrated. News alert - Morrison wasn't deep. Janis sang covers and flamed out early. Jimi choked on the ham sandwich Mama Cass threw up.

... of course, I prefer the 70's...
(make my funk the p-funk)

But then again, I guess Lebron continues to choke in the big games and no Duke guys make big plays in the NBA Finals....

See this is why I need you you BD. You just know. I can't believe I forgot Gordon, Brian (a consideration for top bass player) and Victor. And Thurston ....

Now it's just getting ugly.

"60s are way, way, way fuckin' overrated."

but only to those who weren't there

“None so blind as those that will not see.”
Matthew Henry (1662-1714)

The 60's was a long decade musically. There was much diversity and many innovations. As far as the good music of the 60's, "seek and ye shall find".

Try the Motown, Stax, Malaco and Chess labels.

I know. I jest. I listen to music from that time, and by artists of that time, on basically a daily basis. And if not, the artists I love are certainly indebted to the same. Hey, I know where I was when JFK was killed, so the times shaped me...
