Can you name five GD lyrics containing the phrase "I went down to..."? |
All originals, by four different songwriters. Please, no googling or anything else not from memory.
EDIT: In case you hadn't noticed, this came out of snow_and_rain's trivia question yesterday about four-word phrases appearing in two or more GD lyrics.

Good catch, Jack. But that together with your near-miss on Cumberland further reinforces how often a downward motion appears in their lyric thinking.
EDIT: Plus FOD, as high flow noticed. And Noah Lewis' "Big Railroad Blues" has, "went down to the depot." They ever go up anywhere?

Gettin' there! But FOD is "ran down to the levee". And just BTW: while some sources have Bertha as "down unto the sea", "down to the sea" appears about 10X more often.
EDIT: 2-18-71 (the first performance), 11-9-73, and 5-21-77 all clearly "down unto the sea". Yet The Annotated Bertha (venerable source, that) has "down to the sea", as do 10X as many websites as have "down unto". Did Hunter write it "down to" but Jerry quickly changed it to "down unto" because it scanned better in concert?
