Re: Feds raid Oakland pot university |
these pot clubs need to grease the New Bosses wheels, and kick down to Obama's re-election funds! Besides, he knows he has the liberal democrat vote in his pocket (and so do you-haha), but he needs to get some of them anti-drug Christians into his fold.
Please endure, my liberal friends, it's just re-election politic's. :)

New Boss, Same as the Old Boss |
thing is we always get fooled again.
Ralph Nader is right, the same folks sign ALL the paychecks.
They use chump change (in their eyes) social issues to divide and separate us so the power gluttons can take what they want at will.
Nothing scares politicians like a united populace...but we all hate each because of nonsense - guess who wins! The 1%.

This kind of thing is being pushed by the FOP and their political influence. The war on drugs is good for their coffers.

Obama's War on Pot - article in The Rolling Stone
By Tim Dickinson, February 16, 2012
Back when he was running for president in 2008, Barack Obama insisted that medical marijuana was an issue best left to state and local governments."I'm not going to be using Justice Department resources to try to circumvent state laws on this issue," he vowed, promising an end to the Bush administration's high-profile raids on providers of medical pot, which is legal in 16 states and the District of Columbia.
In a shocking about-face, the Obama administration has launched a government-wide crackdown on medical marijuana.
the past year, the Obama administration has quietly unleashed a multi-agency crackdown on medical cannabis that goes far beyond anything undertaken by George W. Bush. The feds are busting growers who operate in full compliance with state laws, vowing to seize the property of anyone who dares to even rent to legal pot dispensaries, and threatening to imprison state employees responsible for regulating medical marijuana. With more than 100 raids on pot dispensaries during his first three years, Obama is now on pace to exceed Bush's record for medical-marijuana busts. "There's no question that Obama's the worst president on medical marijuana," says Rob Kampia, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project. "He's gone from first to worst."
The federal crackdown imperils the medical care of the estimated 730,000 patients nationwide – many of them seriously ill or dying – who rely on state-sanctioned marijuana recommended by their doctors. In addition, drug experts warn, the White House's war on law-abiding providers of medical marijuana will only drum up business for real criminals. "The administration is going after legal dispensaries and state and local authorities in ways that are going to push this stuff back underground again," says Ethan Nadelmann, director of the Drug Policy Alliance. Gov. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, a former Republican senator who has urged the DEA to legalize medical marijuana, pulls no punches in describing the state of affairs produced by Obama's efforts to circumvent state law: "Utter chaos."

Re: Feds raid Oakland pot university |
Arlette Lee, an IRS spokeswoman, said she could not say why the agents with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service's criminal investigation division were searching the Oaksterdam University in Oakland, at the corner of 16th Street and Broadway, in the heart of the city's widely recognized downtown cannabis-oriented district. Ms. Lee confirmed that they were serving a federal search warrant.
"Everything's under seal," Lee said, referring to the search warrant and documents relating to the investigation. "We're not able to comment as far as the nature of this ongoing investigation."
"The federal agencies are conducting a joint investigation," Lee said.

Ditto except it would be all. State taxes are the only legal ones in my view, anyway.

I love getting on the DC Metro subway where they have posters with a pot leaf on it, that say "Legalize it and tax it!".

You don't have to convince me. I was just talking from a constitutional point of view and my hopeless hope that we can still counter the gestapo through state and local representation.

Exactamundo!(The Fonz)
Here in depressed Butte County we have struggling schools dropping athletics and arts from the curriculum, but we have plenty of helicopters, guns, flack jackets and agents to raid illegal pot grows. Yet in Fall, the "legal" grows are everywhere around this town.
In somewhat related news, I recommend the documentary "The OxyContin Express".
Here's the show:
http://current.com/shows/vanguard/91183979_the-oxycontin-express.htmAll of this police activity is totally backwards and baffling. It makes my guts churn to know how many non-violent offenders are behind bars at our expense.

+1 on that one...I have a channel called Current and it plays all of these Vanguard documentaries. I was in disbelief when they were talking about people actually flying to Florida just for the sole purpose of going to those pain clinics that are doctors offices and pharmacies all in one. People also driving literally thousands of miles just to go to these places...I had no idea shit was so out of control in Florida. That is straight up insane - I mean in this day and age. Well worth the watch.
