Re: JK>>>Allman Brothers Band: Fillmore East Feb '70 |
I remember 1973-3-24 had the short Dark Star I was hoping fora DS people said if you want to see them space out ya gotta go to Ca. ...the crowd was delightful..and if I remember correctly the Dead's amps had tie-dye which in 73 was retro...don't remember many in the crowd wearing tie dye in the 80's tie dye was everywhere -it seemed like it never left...in those days most made their own and it would get on everything...pink underwear..etc drab army jackets were in...(Vietnam wouldn't go away) the band looked like they went to 2nd hand thrift stores...saw a ballerina spinning...and a guy with a stove-top hat...and a few day-glow flowers painted on faces...
-since 71 I was dosing to the gills almost every weekend but doing it at concerts seemed tricky...74-08 after the show my friends car wouldn't start..we opened the hood...higher than a kite...neon orange and blue sparks or at least thats what I saw...a cop drove by and we all straighten up...then a beat-up car that said "Ohio- grateful Dead or Bust"...drove by and even though it was stuffed with a car load of smiling freaks- they stopped and offered a ride...wonderful..I couldn't imagine that happening at any other concert- in Philly...a pig named Rizzo was mayor and he hated "hippies"
