I am having a frustrating listening expereince since the music tends to arbitraily just stop; this has been occuring for quite a while.

hmm, sounds like possibly a very slow connection and/or that you are very far from our servers or something.

i've bumped up the "prebuffer" required time for the flash plugin part of the new player from 1 second to 5 seconds. so maybe you can see if that's any better / has less but possibly longer stalls?
