Apologies for the long delay in this reply. The real world reared its ugly head, and I've been unable to spend any time at IA.

Well, I've followed everyone's advice, but FileZilla is still a no-go. Multiple connect attempts
have all resulted in the following response:

Status: Resolving address of items-uploads.archive.org
Status: Connecting to 207. (etc.)
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message
Response: 220-Welcome to Pure-FTPd
Response: 220-You are user 32 of 500 allowed
Response: 220-Local time is now 05:02. Server port: 21
Response: 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
Response: 220-RATIOS ARE ENABLED FOR EVERYONE:
Response: 220-to download 1 Mb, uploading 6666666 is mandatory
Response: 220-You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity
Command: USER picfixer
Response: 331 User picfixer OK, password required
Command: PASS **********
Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server

As a last resort I tried using IA's flash uploader again (which had briefly worked for 8 uploads last month), but each new attempt resulted in a failed upload due to IA's "Server connection 10 error." I very much hope a solution can be found. I'll keep plugging away until the frustration level finally says enough is enough.

Thanks for your previous input. Any new suggestions would be much appreciated.

I don't know for sure what is happening, but to me it seems that your program is giving an incorrect password to the server.

I would suggest copying and pasting your password into your program's configuration window, instead of typing it. It's too easy for a human to make a mistake while typing. (And, of course, the case of the password probably needs to be correct.)

Thanks Moongleam, but I had already done that, with the same result.

I am now using WinSCP for ftp uploads. Perhaps you would have better luck with that; perhaps not.
