Ha! :)

STAR TREK episodes are available to watch here:

Personally, the original pilot with Jeffrey Hunter instead of Shatner as the captain is more my cup of tea (Plomeek soup? Romulan ale?), despite any similarities to Forbidden Planet...got to see Gene Roddenberry's own 16mm workprint projected in 1972, a real trip. One of the few times I went to a sci-fi convention, the first and the best time. He was a hell of a nice guy too. It was a real revelation to all of us in that hotel ballroom. We'd all seen the two-part "Menagerie" show, of course, but "The Cage" was...wow.

You're right about that. The way I heard it, Mr Roddenberry took the character Captain Picard and fashioned him after Captain Chris Pike. Further, Jeffery Hunter backed out of the show after Hunter's wife said,"Jeffery won't even think of doing TV for he is a film actor."
