Re: Geocities |
Actually, what I meant was that Geocities was deliberately archived, and had been freely available on the Wayback Machine until this morning.
I was asking if there was anything being done to fix the technical issue that had apparently arisen in the Special Archive,
http://www.archive.org/web/geocities.php. :D

Re: Geocities & Server Timeout |
I see, this must be what's causing the issue I've been having as well. Did you ever receive an answer from any of the people who actually work for the archive? I would be interested in an answer as well.
I wonder if Geocities being gone is really the problem though? It's been gone for years and the archive has worked fine, it seems to have happened when the newer beta archive went fully online, but I could be way off on the timing there.
I also notice there are other users who have the same problem and are not looking up a geocities link.

First and most importantly replace the word "deliberately"
with illegally archived stored and published.

Re: Geocities |
Thank you for derailing a technical question and report of a fault into your specific issue. I understand your anger and that you feel that your rights have been infringed, but I would appreciate it if you didn't harrass people who are just trying to use the archive in the manner it was intended.

Re: Geocities |
harass? I'm simply providing information.
Given this website has illegally copied 150 million? websites, it's rather silly of you to say that this is my specific issue or that anger has anything to do with my replies.

Re: Geocities |
I'm sorry, but I think hi-jacking most anyone's thread for the past 3 months can certainly be considered disrupting. It definitely makes it look like some kind of a personal vendetta.
The legal standing and implications of the Wayback Machine are well documented, in numerous places including at the University of Berkeley and the Library of Congress. If the Internet Archive did not comply with your requests, that is a problem and you are certainly well within reason to demand answers, also publicly. But I think one thread on the matter is quite enough, there's no need to add it to every discussion of unrelated issues.
