Re: Exit Through the Gift Shop |
No thanks. I wasn't debating. If you don't want to believe me, then don't.

The information is there for everyone, if you don't want the correct info, that is your decision.

Re: Exit Through the Gift Shop |
The info I linked is
also there for everyone, I just have a hard time deciphering some of the lawspeak. VideoCellar, being a law teacher, has translated the copyright laws so that the layperson can read them. If you want to start an argument I'll start one. I happen to know that without a valid copyright notice within the years 1964-1989 then the movie could be public domain. There are of course some other steps to take after you determine whether or not the notice is valid, but those steps are irrelevant at this time as we are talking about a movie created in 2010.

Re: Exit Through the Gift Shop |
The movie in question was made in 2010, all my comments were directed at the movie being discussed.
No offense toward video-seller but I would rather understand information for myself than to rely solely on 3rd party opinions.
I personally don't think that a layperson is unable to comprehend the information on the websites provided to the public by local government offices.
RE: "If you want to start an argument I'll start one."
there is no argument to be had.

Re: Exit Through the Gift Shop |
I believe that we can both agree that the only films made after 1989 that are currently in the public domain are on purpose (I.e. They were dedicated to the public domain) and I can show you a few examples of films made after 1978 that are pd. And I feel like you know that there are films made after 1978 that are public domain and you are arguing (or not arguing... Whichever you prefer) just because. By the way, can you show me on copyright.gov where you got the year 1976? I'm curious what I'm missing.

Funny, I thought you said I wasn't supposed to trust 3rd party information.

Re: Exit Through the Gift Shop |
Seriously?
"I thought you said I wasn't supposed to trust 3rd party information"
No I did not write that. I personally don't care if you rely solely on 3rd party opinions or not. What I wrote is in the thread.
I wrote as of 1976 the US copyright act (effective as of 1978) copyrights were granted automatic, no more "formalities". What the copyright owner does after with his/her copyrights is up to the owner.
You came back with something off topic, again.
So I simply suggested you check your facts with a Legitimate Local Government Office, you opted to rely solely on someone's opinions.
I am not a teacher of law, nor am I an active legal counsel for Intellectual Property and Copyrights.
You keep asking me to prove something to you, I thought it best to direct you to Legitimate Local Government Offices so to avoid any misinformation.
The more we all understand the better off we all will be.
There are free legal clinics and even hotlines for questions regarding copyrights.
Again, no offense toward video-celler, but how do you know 100% that video-celler is right?

Re: Exit Through the Gift Shop |
Sorry Man (or woman...?) I was just giving you flack. I really don't care. I use VideoCellar because I can tell he knows his stuff and it's easier for me to read. To each his/her own I guess...
Seriously though, don't take anything to offensive, I've just been in a trollin' mood lately.
