Re: Gloria > Berkeley Community Theatre > 11/03/84 |
I like this show a lot, I'm not sure about WDWDIITR, but the rest is killer. I can't say enough about how great the Dead is/was, and 84 was a killer year.

Re: Do It On the Drums |
I think 6/27/84 is the second best. I've actually compared them. Isn't that weird? But there aren't that many, and it seems like that was a song that could have been consistently fun and cooking, so I wondered why they didn't do it more often. When you compare them, though ... weeeeeell, you kinda see why. Do it on the drums? Oy.
Somebody could collect all the "yuk yuk har har" moments of it-was-funny-the-1st-time lyric changes, like "ever since she went and had a sex change," "do it on the drums" ... there's gotta be more.

Re: Gloria > Berkeley Community Theatre > 11/03/84 |
If there is one thing that makes me wish I'd been born a decade earlier, it is the idea of being able to see all the GD shows at Alpine Valley, my "backyard" music venue. For some reason that seems like a more realistic "I wish" than being born in time to get on the bus in 67!

That combination just about sums up for me everything that was wrong with the Dead in the 80s.

Exactly. Why did they do it in the road? Ouch!
