Seems that some folks are adverse to sitting next to a barely contained nuclear blast. Some pepole.
Anywho, I had selected this one for the flight out from Phoenix to Portland, ME. Given the fact that it caused the cabin to depressurize at least twice, it may not have been the best choice.
I know that I have beaten 79 into the ground, but this one refuses to die. In fact, it has repeatedly risen from the dirt, grabbed my head and impaled it on the nearest sharp object. The pre-drums is ridiculous, with the Eyes perhaps my favorite from the Brent years. I found myself qeueing it up again on the ride to work this AM (first day back after some much needed time off), and it still managed to club me repeatedly about the head and neck.

SDH -
Treating the office to this one right now. They forecast 1-3 inches of snow for the Va Beach area today and the state shut down. Pretty thin in the office this morning so the walls are shaking a bit.
Did you see Railroad Earth was just added to the FloydFest artist lineup?

Just checked out the lineup; looks fantastic. Don't get much of anything like that out in these parts. Not much demand for quality Americana out here. Too bad.

Depressurized, twice? Did the masks drop and all? That would have been a bit freaky. Particularly during Black Peter ... OK, it would have been freaky any time. But I listened to 1/2/70 on the last part of my flight in -- bumping through the blizzardy, turbulent dark -- and I did actually skip Black Peter! Which is a tune I usually really like to hear. Just not on bumpy, roller-coasty airplane rides during a blizzard!

Good move. Not sure I would want to spin a tune about dying in those circumstances either.

"Alla my friends come to see me last night,
I was lying in a field
Splattered left and right
Anyone know, is that my leg over there?
Just wanna find, another piece or two..."
Crap--we need Rob to do these; I_Suck, eh?

It isn't really so bad. When you actually try to sing it, or hear it set to the music, it kind of works.
"Just then the wind ... come sqallin' through the depressurized cabin ..."

Re: What NOT to listen to on a 6 hour plane flight |
thanks for the reminder on this 79 gem. as noted, pre-drums is phenomenal, and the show also has a pretty sparkling first set - every tune in the opening set is a winner :)

Re: What NOT to listen to on a 6 hour plane flight |
This may have been posted before, but.....
THE JETS ARE OVERRATED AND WEAK
SANCHEZ IS OVERHYPED AND EASILY RATTLED
Life has been good the past week and a half, no doubt. If I were Green Bay I'd look into calling in sick to work that day. I could care less that just about everyone hates the Pats at this point, near perfection has a tendency to make others jealous.
However, after the Giants fiasco in Glendale, I will withold overanticipating the rest of the season, just wallow in the defeat of the Jets.

Re: What NOT to listen to on a 6 hour plane flight |
i fully agree with you. as much as I like Rex Ryan, his Jets are very overrated. i still think Sanchez will be a fine QB, but he is still too young to carry that team.
Pats are looking almost unbeatable. guess that is what happens when a team is coached by one of the top coaches in the history of the game. like you said, anything can happen, but it sure is looking good right now :)
I would love to see an Atlanta - NE superbowl!! (odds are decent that we will)
