Re: Election Day U.S.A 2010 non-partisan |
Well spoken micah.
My fear is that the "fragile experiment in self governance" is at a critical juncture. (And before Rob mugs me in the alley, I understand that 'critical' is an element of the temporal definition of 'juncture' - so apologies for being redundant, repetitive and saying things more times than needed)
We are faced with a staggering, crippling debt load (that cannot be paid off), a failed capitalistic market economy - enabled by those charged with executing our "self governance" who have sold their souls to special interests, absolutely no concept of a responsible, renewable alternative energy program, dwindling natural resources worldwide, a growing ideaology of (unjustified) entitlement and an erosion of personal accountability.
Where do we go from here and are there enough of us to ensure we start heading in "that" direction?

Re: Election Day U.S.A 2010 non-partisan |
Fear not that alley, Namor. Given that you probably know 217 ways to kill me (and only one of them swift and painless) I'm staying well out of it. If everyone avoided being 'redundant, repetitive and saying things more times than needed' there'd be a hell of a lot fewer posts around here.
The thing I find about elections is that, no matter how things turn out, the guy you thought you voted for doesn't quite turn out to be the guy who got in.

Jean Luc bested the Borg twice I believe ( I am not a Trekie ). Once when he became human again after being Locutus of Borg and the other was the Borg Queen thingy . See resistance is not always futile . And it must be true if it is on T.V.

Very nice, though somewhat lacking in fiddling. Now, I may be embarrassed by the answer, but who was the bozo with the tambourine?

Yes indeed, I was right in thinking I'd be embarrassed. Euclid was a mainstay of the classic Zappa line up.

and Ponty is the ONLY musician that Zappa has said he despised and would never work with again. Wonder why? I do like his music though

Don't know - was it maybe because McLaughlin poached him for Mahavishnu right after he rejoined the Mothers? Maybe left Frank high and dry on the eve of a tour or something? Would have to ask a more knowledgable Zappa fan than I, but I do know from all I've heard that Frank could carry a grudge and develop the same unreasonably (not that I have any true knowledge on that point).

Enigmatic Ocean!!!!! Wasn't Egocentric Molecules on that LP? I could Google it but I'm feeling lazy.
Thanks for the flashback to junior year in high school, making out on Rehoboth Beach with B..., oh never mind.

Yeah, but I knew he was talking about me...if I am anything, it's redundant. Comes from teaching, methinks: best lecture plan is to tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them what you want to tell them, then remind them of what you told them, all within 41 minutes or less.
Notice I how many times I inserted "Tell" in the above? Is that a subtle marketing ploy or what?

I use the same teaching techniques. I think i repeated the take home points 4 times during a 90 minute lecture yesterday.
As for your marketing ploy, i am sure that you didn't really mean it and you were just lucky that it worked out that way and there is no way anyone could possibly use what you did as a model. Sorry but if you want to become a PM around here you have to elbow your way to the top.

Hmmm, and I was thinking it was the "suck up" model, another of my many tactical approaches. In reality, it might have just been the "overwhelm them with crap" model, which seems to be the pt of the 13 messages on my phone right now--shouldn't they have stopped by now? Oh, yeah--I think these are old ones...

Thanks. I just figured it that people noticed it but it was not that funny. I thought it was funny.
