i love how alot of you post your own interpretation`s...when really you haven`t a clue to how,or what Jerry was ever thinking.More than that,niether did he!..Jerry`s life was probably a huge mess,not even did he have the strength to clean up....But one thing was clear,he loved playing and seeing the smiles that he produced and feeling the love we brought...to let him know we always appreciated his presence on stage and off!...STOP trying to make people think he wasn`t happy with the music and playing for you and us!....i`ve never seen such a hateful bunch of heads in my life.stop trying to twist interveiws into signs that Jerry was some kinda monster.You would think that most of you would have given what you could to help someone in need...but i believe,this judgemental crowd of haters,only think of themselves and see it like,since he was an addict,therefore the music wasn`t always up to your standards and he shouldn`t have made such a human mistake....and i think instead...if Jerry was an asshole at times,so be it! like you aren`t,and as far as i can read....he had every right to be mad and snippy at times,especially when he could probaby sense people such as many of the posters on here,their selfish,judgemental unkind ways!.....this place is a fucking joke!...if not for the music library,there is no other real reason to sign on and read this bullshit....i believe he was just as he looked,......and thats just like me or you,and should be talked about with kind words and whatever his personsl life was,was just that...PERSONAL!

Man , you have a way of pissing people off . Maybe it's a gift . Translate that into a career and look what the good people here at the forum helped you with . Wow.
Sorry to have offended you by speaking my mind. I wasn't aware we're not permitted to have a free discussion. OK, guys, from now on please keep those nasty "opinion" thingies to yourself. If you look under your seats you will find a packet of pre-populated and pre-approved opinions that you are free to use. Any attempt to veer off the path and interject "free thought" will be met with harsh criticism and disdain.
Perhaps the line "I think Jerry would have..." is a bit presumptuous at times, but I believe that everyone has the right to put up whatever the hell they want to, especially if they can back it up with facts now and then. As has been said so much it makes me ill: If you don't like it, don't read it.

Of course it's all interpretation, and to suggest that a person was complex, and felt pulled by various aspects of his/her life, angered by some, frustrated by others...well, if that isn't the most human, overly simplistic, drivel I've posted, I don't know what is...meaning, I didn't say anything new or unexpected of the human condition with those comments about JG.
All that Rob and I are discussing is the finer meaning of a particular little interaction. I focused on "what does the last line mean?" while I think he focused on the negative interactions prior (in this little vignette).
Are you serious that you think it's disrespectful or somehow off the mark to suggest that JG didn't want to be touring with the DEAD the last ten yrs? He said so many times, right? And, isn't it the way with so many superstars and the bands they belong to as to why they break up? JG didn't leave, but died, so that's to his credit if one wants to think he stuck with it just for the money.
But really, it's pretty simple, and I don't see how anyone could say, honestly, "I think JG got up every morning looking forward to the next tour with the DEAD!"

Another reason he was disgruntle with the touring, was , because of their popularity , they had to do the big Stadiums, or monster sports arenas . No the most musical environments in the world .
A friend of mine met him before a a show at Irvine ( He couldn't go to the show as he was playing a gig himself in the hotel, as it turns out, that the Garcai band was staying ) . They brought up the move to bigger venues ("too bad, no more small Jerry shows anymore "), and Garcia was not happy with this , and this was the mid 80's .

fuck all you jerry hating hypocrits....i`m37...seen 27 shows.I know its not the over exxagerated number that many of the old timers try and pass off as truth...fuckin liars.Im sick ya`lls shit....you best look in your mirror,for its you with the negative andtwisted"facts"that are as far from the truth as you are!...Jerry had a couple broken marriages,distant kids,addiction,long touring,sleep apneia,diabetes and a status that he didnt ever intend on having(leader of the band).All these were issuses that would make alot of "us"turn and escape with drugs....dont even try and lie and say you wouldn`t...but i`d expect a few will.But really Jerry loved music,it was passion.and he loved the smiles he brought to the 1000`s of us who loved him for the way he changed our lives.He wasn`t snippy,hateful,mean...but he was tired,adn run-down.But obviously more of a man then anyone of you will ever be...he hated his addiction!...and loved his family and music and the followers who came from far and wide to hear his magic and leave happier than they ever imagined....so you know what..How bout you go find a forum for people who enjoy lying about his life and his heartaches and while you`re at....go join him,maybe you`l learn a little about how to respect ones who`ve past...before their time.....Most all of you wouldn`t know good music if I personally hit you in your teeth with it!...........and for the one post,i decline the blow job.You`re not my type,assholes and idiots aren`t my type.........so farewelll to those with a little dignity,and agree witha bit of my thoughts....and fuck your mother to the redt of you assholes.This will be the last time you try and turn you turn the story into something,since you didnt agree with,into a all out stoning against me!..i promise you wont want to do it again......I HATE HATERS and thats only what you are(and a few other things as well!)
