Re: Yippie - I - Yay |
Interesting thought. I really like Cowboy Movie as a song but I really can't see (hear?) either Weir or Garcia carrying it off vocally.
Phil and Friends did it a few times in 2005 - good instrumentally but Chris Robinson isn't high on my list of favourite singers. And as I recall Phil didn't sing...

Re: Yippie - I - Yay |
Most welcome. Glad I could help. Sorry if I was a little down on Chris Robinson - I still take Shake Your Money Maker out for a spin every now and then!

Re: Yippie - I - Yay |
Thanks for the link, Rob. I guess it only works with Crosby. Great song though.
Heading to Gloucesterhire for the Wychwood Festival in a few minutes. Not the greatest line-up (but I always enjoy seeing The Levellers), and there's a lot to see and do over the weekend. Weather's looking good for it.

Re: Yippie - I - Yay |
Have a good time, knowing that my weekend will be about dirt and sod than about music and celebration. I guess I'll get an ipod boom box and dance on my new grass later...

Re: Yippie - I - Yay said the Cardboard Cowboy |
You probably won't have time right now, but if you want a GD cowboy song you should definitely try this 66 rarity
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1966-07-30.sbd.GEMS.94631.flac16Words and music by Garcia apparently.
'Watching mashed potatoes dribble in the heat of reality's earth'
You can see why he left these things to Hunter.
Anyway it's a nice, light and refreshing little show for when you have an hour to spare. Have a great weekend!
