Re: Are these 'Amos 'n Andy Show' episodes PD? |
After I read that A&A are copyrighted till 2040, I was wondering if that made the vhs tape of them from "Bridgestone Multimedia" (1996) a bootleg tape. I went to wiki and found that there has never been an offical home video release and all of them are bootleged.
So if you've got any A&A tv episodes, hang on to them becase by 2040, A&A might be lost and forgotten forever.

First of, welcome and enjoy all that is here. Second, you are not; a lot of people do not know what PD(public domain) is and Third, stick around and have fun.

Hiya Coopie, Welcome! PD = Public Domain. The only way we can post shows here is if they are public domain. ( no copyrights exist )

Re: Are these 'Amos 'n Andy Show' episodes PD? |
Thank you.
A few years ago when we used the old large Sat. dish, a station showed them and I taped several of them. Also, a friend order tapes from somewhere. Great show. Should be shown on TV. Not as bad or racist as Sanford & son.

Re: Are these 'Amos 'n Andy Show' episodes PD? |
Yeah. The shows are harmless sitcoms with good acting. Very entertaining. I used to rent them on VHS.
Around 1970, a syndicated special hosted by
George Kirby showed clips from A&A, and urged its return to the airwaves. It had been yanked from distribution in a kneejerk over-reaction to the civil rights movements of the 1960s. A few years later, George Jefferson and Sanford and Jimmy J. J. Walker and many other black characters behaved in far more extreme ways than A&A.
