The Yukon patrol (1942) was registered but copyright was not renewed after the initial 28-year term. However, it seems to be based on "King of the Royal Mounted", a republic serial that was renewed:
KING OF THE ROYAL MOUNTED, a series of photoplays by Republic Productions.
2 reels each except no.l which is 3 reels. © Repix, Inc., wholly owned subsidiary of National Telefilm
Associates, Inc. (PWH)

7-12. © 20Sep40; L10099. 19Jan68; R427546.
As a derivative of a copyrighted work, I'm not sure it qualifies as PD even if it wasn't renewed.

Isn't most British TV copyrighted for 50 years after broadcast? Then again, copyright laws are like Puslar Stars: I don't know how they work, and when you try to explain them to me, I know less than I did before.

Here is what videocellar had to say about UK copyrights.

For TV shows you will need to check each episode separately.

The Ronald Reagan film, "Hellcats of the Navy" is copyrighted

Uh, in that he's talking about movie copyrights. Last time I checked, the UK has different laws for TV and movies.

I thought for the purposes of this discussion they were the same. But I don't know UK law. Maybe this will help:

"Look Who's Laughing" was on the Archive briefly a few years ago but was removed for copyright.
