Pizza my heart: story of GD blues @Magoo's |
no joke...
this "Account of the First Grateful Dead Concert: May, 1965" is the basis of a chapter in the author's published book entitled Cosmic Trends, generally overlooked by forumites since it's not a tome about the Grateful Dead per se.
http://www.astrofuturetrends.com/grateful_dead.htmInteresting.

Re: Pizza my heart: story of GD blues @Magoo's |
I thought it might be Bob's brother that I met one time in Hampton who bears a striking resemblance to Bob, but I think his name is/was Frank? Anyway, stumbled across this while looking for same. Pretty cool/interesting story about Mr. Weir:

Who is Thomas Weir?
He signed the back cover photo of Anthem of the Sun (if memory serves)
Haha! I looked at "Bill Weir?" posted above and it didn't register...
All those dead names sound the same!
(wink wink)

So, I take it Tom Weir, and Bob, his bro, are somehow related to the famous photographer/mtn climber, Thomas Weir of Scottland? Rob?

Re: Pizza my heart: story of GD blues @Magoo's |
Well, Tell, I really don't know. My grandfather was called Bob Weir but I wouldn't on that basis claim kinship to the esteemed Atherton Weir (and as Bob was adopted, is Weir his adoptive name rather than indicating a biological connection to the Weirs? - I'm not clear about that).
Anyway - here's a fun Weir website where the guy states categorically from the get go that he's no relation to our Bob.
http://www.halcyon.com/weir/weir.htmlApologies to 'user' Bill for duplicating the Weir, Bill link - I neglected to look back up the thread before responding to WT.

Ha! Good one--that site!...realized there must be a crap load. And you really did have a BW in your past? Closet perhaps? Or no...until recently maybe...sorry, making no sense.
I just happened to goggle for CPW and found The T Weir and realized he wasn't the one though he came up under photographer, and Tom, Bob's bro, comes up under those that like to take those circular pics (like anthem and aox).
So, you are keeping a close eye on postings? Good to know I can call out and you'll be there...

Re: Pizza my heart: story of GD blues @Magoo's |
If the sky above you
should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
alternatively:
Oh If you feel downhearted
You must remember this
Things never are as bad as they could be
When friends have all departed
There's one you'll never miss
I'll be right with you
You can count on me
You can count on me
You can count on me
As the adding machine once said
You can count on me
Yes indeed my maternal grandfather was one Robert Weir, and a very fine fellow he was too.

Re: Pizza my heart: story of GD blues @Magoo's |
Then there was the girl who told me her story in '84 about meeting Pigpen at one of those '65 Warlocks Magoo's gigs.
Ron was the friendliest of the bunch, came right over to her table and made himself at home.

it was nice and deep and dense
pitchers of beer all glisten
burned mouth in the 3rd degree
I even ate it cold in the mornin'

BLUE'S FOR MAGOO'S
Pepperoni wind
the crust is not too thin
a pizza plate full of fromage - we drown in beer
down in Magoo's land
where pizza doth command
how dare you spill our suds, the cost was dear...
(I'd better stop)

I've got to hand it to you Q........ you're quite the prophetic lyrical genius. A profound statement of the rise and fall of western civilization.

Sorry, 007, but after the less-than-perfect-working-order condition you returned the last car in, I can only authorize you 1 liter of Boone's Farm 'Tickle Pink'™ wine.
