you (or whomever it is who has the item checked out)
have to check the item in first.
if it is you, go to the item manager and hit the "check out" button
and then go to the link on the page that it gives you to
"check in" the item...

(the "beta" system does not require check out and check in...)

Right. I did the check out but now can not access 'edit item' page. Old edit item gives message 'The item you are trying to edit does not have metadata or the metadata is not parseable. It will need to be rebuilt or fixed first.' New edit item give message 'The specified item was not found "live" in the US cluster or does not have metadata.'

I can not use edit item.

Disregard. I used cached history page and was able to access checkin function that way.

I have the same problem when trying to upload some missing movies from my Edison Collection http://www.archive.org/details/EdisonMotionPicturesCollectionPartTwo18991902. I'm using gFTP on Ubuntu Linux and when entering the item menager and then uploading files I've got this messege: 553 Disk full - please upload later. Several weeks passed and still nothing
