It was Windows "Three Point O" Believe it or not I have a functioning copy still running. Its the only thing that runs some of my more ancient games.

"Fun" Fact 1: Windows 3.0 and 3.1 would run on a 286.
"Fun" Fact 2: Nobody knows why.
Rumor: I don't know, but I've been told (sorry) that an IBM PC/XT, upgraded with a VGA card (yes, they sold 8-bit VGA cards and some of the 16-bit ones would run in 8-bit mode) and 640K of RAM, would run Windows 3.0.
