Talking of gems, a while back someone put up a link to Sugar megs -check out the 1972 02/20 Rainbow theatre pink floyd concert. They play Darkside Of the Moon in a very primal state. It is amazing. To me having heard the earlier version it could have been a much better album... (probably get burned at the stake for saying that, and probably deserve to be...0 Check it out, its the fourth time they've played it live, the sound quality is patchy in places but wow, what a trip

Do a search for any Screaming Abdabs.

The story goes that the members of the Floyd wanted to truly work out the kinks in this piece of music prior to laying down final tracks, and they actually toured as "The Screaming Abdabs" as rehearsal for the dark side shows.

If you like the rougher versions of these songs, and I do, then you'll love this...

I was wondering if anyone caught that....

I've been a huge floyd fan for years. have a fairly extensive collection.

I would have to recommend the following site for some amazing deep and rare stuff...

If I caught you before you checked out for the night - what's this 40-minute jam you refer to? I'm presuming high flow was talking about the Superstitious Blues album, which has nothing above 6.52 so far as I know. Can you enlighten me?

The 40-minute jam with Garcia is on Country Joe's Live at the Fillmore '69 disc, linked above.

Garcia-spotters may also want to check out the Jefferson Airplane '69 show mentioned too, for another long jam with Garcia - that link was amazon.co.uk, here's one for folks on this side of the pond:

And, hmm, while we're at it, I may as well mention the Zabriskie Point expanded soundtrack in case anyone hasn't heard of it, featuring lots of Garcia noodling by himself on guitar, along with some unreleased Pink Floyd tunes:
