Potential for a collections of newsletters, magazines, newspapers, comics? |
Currently the Archive's concentration in the text sector is for books and e-books - however, there is generally many less ongoing efforts to save actual periodicals (magazines, newletters, newspapers, comics, tracts, ect) from being forgotten. Will the Internet Archive take any steps to work with libraries to try to save them?

Re: Potential for a collections of newsletters, magazines, newspapers, comics? |
Check under 'gerard arthus', I am putting up these types of materials now. Unfortunately much of this material will disappear unless it is put up soon. Playbills, price-lists, service manuals, owner's manuals, labels, product packaging, this list is quite long. Since most of them are not as large as books they are easier to handle and without copyright notices they are nearly all in the public domain up until March 30, 1989.
For example, I just spoke to the lawyers at Sam's after having discovered that they never renewed the copyright for their Photofact series which contains tens of thousands of schematics and manuals for electrical devices going back to the early 1940.s. I have put a few of these up with trademarks removed since they were complaining about that issue.
