I'm not going to get to full '76 shows - just too much music out there. So, I'd like to make a "best of" disk. What are your favorite performances of 1976?

In addition to 10/9 and 12/31 which are already commercially available these are some of my faves from '76; you ought to be able to grab most anything from these for a compilation disk:

6/9- Second set opens with the first "Stephen" since '71 and a blazing intro to "Eyes"; normally I'm not a huge fan of '76 "Eyes" but this one is an exception

6/14- Entire show- hardly the show of the year, but a cut above by '76 standards

7/18- An absolutely monsterous second set

10/15- Second set; especially from "The Other One" through the finish; there is a good Bertrando audience of this one

Well, I just can't resist full shows. So here's my Top Ten for 1976. Any picks from these are a good bet for your "best of" disc.
Not in any order, except date!!

1. 6/14/76
2. 6/15/76
3. 6/19/76
4. 6/29/76
5. 7/18/76
6. 8/4/76
7. 9/28/76
8. 10/9/76
9. 10/15/76
10.12/31/76

but as I said previously, if we had ALL the SBD's from June, there would likely be another gem that might take out one of my top tens. Who knows?? Have fun.

Dr. Flashback :-)

well, rather than narrow it down to specific dates I HAVE to say this about 76

1) High Time - hafta have one, possibly the sweetest year for this tune

2) Cosmic Charlie - same as above

3) Let it Grow - fantastic year for this song

4) Help>Slip - not as hard agrressive and to the point as the 77 versions but definately trippier jamming on Slipknot!

5) Mission - only a couple ever attempted, don't ask me why, they seemed to nail it good

6) Crazy Fingers - the ONLY year ( besides the few 75 shows ) where they can get the intro right

7) Eyes - 6-9-76 is a must have!

Thanks for asking the question, D&M. When I get back to 76, I'm going to check out some of the recommendations. One more from me:

Let it Grow > Wharf Rat from Capitol Theater (always a good venue) on 6-17-76. The Wharf Rat in particular really made a believer out of me. I think I also remember the Lazy Lightning > Supplication from that night being strong too.

skuzzlebut had it right on 6/9/76.... killer show, but whatever you do, make sure you have THIS st stephen>eyes, in the matrix:
