ok, i've wondered around enough and have enjoyed what i have found. and i understand that it is best just to leave it up to the archive people than to convert my old tapes to digital, but what if the archive doesn't have the recordings i am looking for, or they only come in streaming format? can i send in my tapes somewhere to be uploaded to give it more of a professional sound?

if you are talking about Greatful Dead (it sounds like) the archive is not currently accepting recordings for that collection.

If you have cassettes and want to convert them, I suggest you go to www.taperssection.com they can help you get set up and convert using your soundcard.
