Excellent new film uses >100 prelinger clips |
I just got back from seeing "The Corporation" at the San Francisco Film Festival. This documentary, a critique of the modern corporation and its lack of social responsibility, was made by Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott, and draws liberally from this online archive. I've never seen such extensive use of picture and sound from here, and feel proud to have helped this project. See it!

Yup, made by artists in my hometown, Vancouver! I have (blush) not seen it yet.. I've been meaning to, honest!
I wonder if my reviews helped them somewhat :D

Looks like the movie's website is at:
http://www.thecorporation.tv/
There's also
a list of theaters it'll be expanding to when it officially opens in June - I'll try to catch it at the excellent Camera Cinemas in San Jose when it opens there.
Kudos as always, Rick,
s!

There's a version of this film that aired on Canadian TV a couple months ago that's available
here in the Open Source movies collection. 3 hours long, its excellent, do watch it.

Re: Excellent new film uses >100 prelinger clips |
Hm,
So someone privately emailed us, and we've had to remove the TV version of Corporation, because it turns out the person who uploaded it did _not_ have the rights to post it, despite ticking the box to say they did. Gah. Sorry about that.
We're working on more general advisory language about what you can and can't upload, but I'm sure most people understand that you can't just record material off contemporary TV and upload it.
Thanks,
s!

It's great to hear that the films in the Archive are being recognized for what they are, invaluable social commentary.
