KPFK's Jude McGee presents a two-hour special for International Women's Day on women composers in classical music with in-studio guest JoAnn Falletta, conductor of the Women's Philharmonic. Falletta talks about the great women composers from the baroque period through to contemporary times and her work with the National Women Composers Resource Center. The Women's Philharmonic plays Ellen Zwilich's "Concerto grosso 1985", Marianna Martines' "Sinfonia in C", Camilla de Rossi's "Il sacrificio del Abramo", and excerpts from Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre's cantata "Jonas."

Subject:
rare classical music women composers
Great sound of Women's Philharmonic playing relatively unknown women composer pieces. Sound quality is great and Joann Falletta really sets the stage in the interview. I love this was on a feminist radio program.
