Subject: Bob Crosby Is Excellent In His Television Show
I agree with the two reviews below: "The Bob Crosby Show" is excellent. This daytime show was on for four years maintaining a high entertainment value for the time. Bob Crosby, during part of this time, was also leading the orchestra or band for the Jack Benny radio and television program. Bob Crosby was very talented and always came across in a nice manner.

Subject: Nice
Just stumbled across this show, started to sample it, then stayed for the whole thing. Yes, it's light entertainment but it takes a group of solid pros and talented people to pull it off and make it seem so effortless. Things just keep moving, with different sets of singers in a variety show format and even two gameshow segments. The cues are sharp, the vocal balances are on the money, even the limited sets and camerawork are imaginative. Bob Crosby is smooth and cozy like his older brother Bing but just a bit more real. As a watcher of TV at a much much later date, what I find amazing is that this daytime show was done LIVE and was broadcast 5 DAYS A WEEK! I guess to showbiz professionals trained without all the digital coverups and safety nets, plus the technicians who had years of experience in live radio, this was nothing unusual at the time. Can you imagine today's talent pulling off a show of this caliber without the tech crutches and gimmicks -- live and every day of the week?

Subject: What rhymes with "crosby"?
I showed this kinescoped show to a professional back-stabbing assassin I occasionally hire (well, I *am* an emperor). He's hardened, cold, unemotional, and fairly heartless.

Even so, he found this sugary-sweet example of 1950s-conformity to be oddly appealing. He mentioned he really liked the bit near the beginning where the host talks over-the-air to the child of a person who wrote a letter to the show.

Personally, I liked it too. I once saw this mentioned as being one of the worst variety series(!) by a some lame book published in Australia(?!), and I don't understand why they considered it to be so poor.
Sure, it's light, fluffy, and mindless, but what else would you expect from a show watched by housewives while they did the ironing? This is pretty good for a daytime variety show.
